A brief history,

Celluloid, an early form of plastic, was widely used in toy production during the first half of the 20th century, particularly from the 1920s to 1950s. Japanese tin and celluloid toys became world-famous from the 1920s-1960s, rising after WWI to dominate exports with whimsical, detailed wind-up figures and vehicles, often featuring popular Western characters for the US/European markets.

Today, both vintage Japanese tin and celluloid toys are prized collector's items and highly sought-after by collectors. The detail, quality craftsmanship, and historical significance of these toys, particularly those from the post-war "occupied Japan" era (1945-1948) and the subsequent golden age, contribute to their high value in the antique market.
